Old Museum Building Concert Hall, Bowen Hills.
The inaugural concerts for the Queensland Philanthropic Orchestra were an outstanding success. The key highlights were:
»
Attracting 70 high-calibre orchestral musicians, from professionals to students, many with a full time career, most of whom volunteered their time and talent for charity
»
Engaging an audience of over 400 people from a broad demongraphic, including hard-to-reach, high value niche markets
»
Performing a program of music that was enthusiastically received by the audience. A concert was recorded and a CD of the performance was available for sale 15 minutes after the concert. The initial run of 150 CDs was sold within the week.
»
Providing exposure to our Sponsors through media coverage, professionally designed and printed programs, posters and flyers, and through this website (attracting 1500 hits in the week leading to the event)
»
With no lobbying, receiving very good support from radio and print media, including radio slots on 4BC, 612ABC and 4MBS, and articles in the Courier Mail and Quest Newspapers
»
Presenting the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) with a cheque for over $16,000 toward their continuing research - the equivalent of placing two or more people on clinical immunotherapy trials that may save their lives.
Some of the feedback we received:
"Bravo! Thanks to your energy, commitment and enthusiasm I was treated to a musical feast last night. The program was excellent and the orchestra fabulous. I look forward to your next concert with keen anticipation."
"Thank you for a wonderful night of excellent and exciting music. When is the next one?????"
"What a triumph! What a wonderful wonderful night. Thank you so much and well done."
Without our Sponsor, this event would not be possible. The Queensland Philanthropic Orchestra was proud to work with ICU Optometrist as the major sponsor to ensure the success of this event, and acknowledged the significant contribution of Councillor Peter Matic, Toowong Ward to the viability of this event. Great support was also received from 4MBS Classic FM and Tognini's.
